In addition to this, staff members of the Faculty were engaged in research in various areasltopics. The output of many of the researches have been published in the following two journals, Bayer Journal ofPhysics and Bayer Journal ofMathematics and other journals, both within and outside the country.
Community Service
The Faculty has been producing qualified manpower in the areas of Basic Sciences for Kano State and the nation. The Remedial Science programme (introduced in 1989 to replace the pre-degree programme), has alleviated the problem of shortage of students, usually from the catchment area of the University that qualify for entry into the University through the UME. The Department of Chemistry continued to maintain Glass Blowing Laboratory and Ultra Modern Instrument laboratory which assists other department of the University, sister institutionsand individual researches to fabricate their glasswares and Instruments. The department's motorized borehole also assisted the neighboring departments and sometimes students with portable water. Introduction of Professional Diploma in Electronics to train local artisans and those who do not possess qualifications to obtain university admission, in the theory and practicals of electronics and award them a certificate is aimed at harnessing the technological prowess of the host community for national development. Many of the academic and laboratory staff assists Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST Wudil with teaching of courses, students supervision and laboratory training. Other assistance included advice on curriculum development and recruitment of senior staff.
